Sanding and Refinishing

New York Hardwood Flooring Services

Transform your floor

Wood flooring is beautiful and timeless, and adds value to your home.

But what happens when it becomes scratched and worn, looking dull and lacklustre, and making your room seem unattractive and neglected?

Sanding and refinishing your floor is an excellent way to transform your floor. And when carried out expertly, by trained professionals such as ourselves, the results can be spectacular.

Sanding and refinishing involves a number of processes, designed to remove the old finish and replace it, ensuring an even exposure of new wood. Using professional, state-of-the-art equipment, here at All American Hardwood Flooring we sand and refinish all of our floors with powerful machinery and special vacuum cleaners.

After a preliminary sanding, we apply a filler to the floor's surface. This will seal the cracks, crevices and repair any imperfections.

Once the filler is dry, we will sand the floor again. After this, we will screen the floor to remove any marks left by previous sandings. Finally, we run a buffer across the floor to rid it of any unseen scratches.

Cut down on dust

We use several coats of sealer in our work and we also offer a wide range of stains, that match all kinds of woods. Our finishes are low-odor and eco-friendly, both oil and water-based.

The equipment we use is also designed to filter out most of the airborne dust that is inevitably generated with this kind of process. Dustless refinishing saves you the time and effort of endless cleaning and covering your furniture with plastic sheeting. It is also much quicker to carry out than traditional sanding and refinishing methods.

Still, remember that a certain amount of dust will settle in the room, so even this method is not 100% effective. Also, you need to bear in mind that every time you remove a layer of wood from your floor, you are reducing its lifespan. All this aside, this is still an excellent method of bringing your floor back to life.
